Vintage Collectible silk charmeuse dress by Adele Simpson.  The crew neck dress with bold shoulder pads features a button front with matching self belt.  Box pleats form the bodice and continue to the skirt.  The long sleeves are gathered at the cuffs.  The dress is unlined.

Adele Simpson was an American designer whose career lasted almost 5 decades.  She was known for using innovative fabrics and mixed French couture techniques with an American sensibility to design wearable and beautiful clothing.  She dressed many First Ladies throughout her career and was sold in all of the top American department stores along with features in many major magazines.
