HBC Point Blanket Coat, S / M
Vintage early 1970s Hudson's Bay Point Blanket Coat. Rare and sought after by vintage and textile collectors. Several books have been written on the blankets and how to date them.
Each coat is made form a specially woven blanket. "Point" refers to the system used by French weavers to indicate the size of the blankets. The first blankets date to 1779. The colours used in the stripes have no specific meaning, they were merely colours popular at the time.
This coat is in excellent condition, it has the original buttons, as well as the original belt. One small stain on the yellow stripe might come out with careful cleaning. No rips or wear to the lining, there is some staining as shown.
Spread collar with double-breasted button closure. The belt secures inside, leaving the back with a lovely swing shape.
